The Ragdoll

Ragdolls are large loving semi long haired cats. With a silky plush coat and expressive oval blue eyes.

They are extremely docile, intelligent and playful people oriented cats. They make the ideal pet for children and get along well with dogs and other cats. These cats are beautiful and gentle and considered the most easy going of all the breeds.

Ragdolls were bred in the early 1960's by Ann Baker a breeder from Riverside, California. It was the offspring of a cat named Josephine that resulted in the first ragdolls.

The ragdoll appears in three patterns colour/pointed, mitted and bi-colour and in 4 traditional colours blue, seal, chocolate and lilac. New ragdoll colours and patterns include reds, creams, torties and tabbies.

Ragdolls are slow to mature, it can take upto 3-4yrs for ragdolls to reach full maturity. Full size and weight is often reached at about 4 yrs old. With neutered males weighing 20-25lbs and females proportionally smaller.

Due to there docile trusting nature ragdolls are indoor cats only. With there laid back temperament it makes them more than happy to be a house pet. If you are looking for a lap cat then the ragdoll is for you.
